At the beginning of my weight loss journey in January 2019, I weighed in at 239.8 pounds. Through changes in my diet and VR exercise, I have been steadily losing weight.
With my ultimate goal being 160 pounds, I started with a daunting 80 pound weight loss goal. For me, setting incremental goals seems to work best. I like to have small goals to work toward and celebrate. All while chipping away at that huge, daunting goal.
My first goal was to lose 20 pounds. I reached that goal in May 2019. My next goal was to get under what I weighed on my wedding day. That goal I was able to reach by September of 2019.
The next goal I set out ended up being my biggest milestone yet. That goal was to get under 200 pounds. With my ultimate weight loss goal of losing 80 pounds, getting under 200 meant my halfway point. Not only that, but psychologically, I knew it would make a difference to see a ‘1’ at the beginning of my weight instead of the ‘2’ I had seen for so long.
Well, as of last week, I have officially reached that goal! I stepped on the scale and got a reading of 199.6. I am so excited to be making steady progress toward my goal, especially since I enjoy my VR workouts so much. This is the longest I have ever kept up with a weight loss routine. And this is the first time I honestly believe in my ability to reach my goals.
Going forward, my next goal is to reach 180 pounds. That will be a number that I haven’t seen since I was a teenager! I’m so excited to keep going, and to keep networking with others that are using virtual reality as a health and fitness tool.
Thank you for reading my story, and I hope to be able to update soon once I have reached my next goal!
